Another song again written my Ian Lilly and myself when I discovered that theTitanic had sunk one hundred years ago on the 13-14 April 1912. I wrote a long article about the event (in an Irish magazine naturally) and how Belfast has been recently transformed with a whole new complex being built to commemerate the event. It is worth reading about!
CHORUS THE MIGHTY TITANIC, SHE COULD NOT FAIL THE BIGGEST AND BEST THAT EVER SET SAIL -
WHATEVER THE FUTURE AWAITING HER YET SHE WOULD BE A SHIP WE WOULD NEVER FORGET !

SHE SAILED FROM SOUTHAMPTON, ALL FIRED UP WITH PRIDE THE RICH AND THE FAMOUS ALONG FOR THE RIDE
THE WATERS WERE CALM BUT THE WEATHER TURNED COLD A CHILL COULD BE FELT FROM THE BRIDGE TO THE HOLD -
BUT DOUBT IS UNTHINKABLE WHEN YOU'RE UNSINKABLE THOSE SCARY WARNINGS YOU DON'T HAVE TO HEED -
SO ONWARD SHE STEAMED AT FULL AHEAD SPEED

WHEN STAMPEDING STEEL MEETS A MOUNTAIN OF ICE THEN NATURE DEMANDS SOMEONE PAYS A HIGH PRICE
H.M.S. TITANIC LAY DAMAGED AND DOOMED AND MORE THAN A THOUSAND FOREVER ENTOMBED -
BUT NO MARBLE CENOTAPH NO TOUCHING EPITAPH NO CHURCH CHOIR AND NO BELL THAT TOLLS -
JUST SEAWEED AFLOAT, AWASH WITH LOST SOULS ....

ONE HUNDRED YEARS ON JUST LIKE IT WAS THEN THE WHITE STAR LINE SHIP - SHE LIVES ONCE AGAIN
IN THE VERY SAME PLACE WHERE THE KEEL WAS LAID DOWN "THE TITANIC QUARTER" NOW PART OF BELFAST TOWN
IT IS A FOUR HULLED MONUMENT TO THOSE PASSENGERS WHO WENT
SHE NOW LIVES IN BELFAST PROUDLY IN HER PEN H.M.S. TITANIC SAILING ONCE AGAIN!
